The homes

Flower Mound is built of brick. Your eave is the canvas.

Flower Mound grew fast. The town went from 15,527 people in 1990 to 50,702 in 2000. Bridlewood started in 1996, and Wellington homes date to the mid-to-late 1990s.

Town code calls for 100 percent masonry on the walls of most homes. Windows, doors, dormers and some gables are exempt. Agricultural and estate districts are exempt too. That puts the color on the eave, not the wall. Aurascape's aluminum track is color-matched to your trim, and the brick stays as it is.

Older streets look different. Timber Creek has brick-and-frame homes from around 1980. Lake Forest and McKamy Creek date to the late 1980s. Highland Court (2017) and Oakbridge Crossing (2026) add brick, stone and board-and-batten. Each home gets track matched to its own trim.

The weather

100-degree summers, golf-ball hail, 80 mph gusts

DFW averages 17 to 18 days at 100 degrees. The first usually lands around July 1. The last comes near August 27. In 2011 the count hit 71. That is a bad season to hang strands from a ladder.

Hail is part of life here. On June 11, 2023, residents photographed golf-ball to baseball-size hail. It fell at Morriss Road and 4th Street and at the Bridlewood golf course. Hail fell on town again on March 14, 2024. No light survives everything. Aurascape mounts aluminum track on the eave instead of clips and strands. Bosso backs the product with a 5-year warranty.

On May 28, 2024, gusts topped 80 mph in Denton County and more than 50,000 people lost power. Clips and strands fail first in wind like that. DFW also logs about 37 inches of rain a year. The control box sits in your garage, out of the weather.

Local life

Friday nights, a December 5 parade, and a 50-foot tree

Flower Mound splits red and blue. Marcus High, home of the Marauders, wears red and silver. Flower Mound High, the Jaguars, wears blue, silver and white. They meet every year in the Mound Showdown, which began in 2000. Highland Court and Whyburn homes are zoned to Marcus. Oakbridge Crossing is zoned to Flower Mound High.

Individually addressable LEDs let you pick your colors in the free app. Run red for the Marauders on Friday. Switch to warm white by Monday. Independence Fest drew more than 29,000 people on July 4, 2026. Red, white and blue is one tap.

The Town's Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting is Saturday, December 5, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Gerault Park. The Town's tree has stood 50 feet tall with more than 100,000 LEDs. In 2025, Santa Around Town rolled Santa through neighborhoods on a fire truck, December 8 to 13. Install takes about a week and a half after materials are ordered. Work back from December 5.

Lots and rooflines

From 0.15-acre lots to two-acre estates

Lots here run wide. Listings show Highland Court on about 0.15 acre and Canyon Falls near 0.23. Oakbridge Crossing is about 0.35 and Townlake about 0.6. A 1996 Estates at Tour 18 home sits on two acres.

Town zoning caps homes at three stories or 35 feet. Minimum lots run from 5,000 square feet up to one acre in estate districts. A wall that tall is a ladder job. Our three-person crew handles the heights. We quote on the same visit, so you see the number before we leave.

Not every home is brick. That Tour 18 estate is listed with stucco and a Spanish tile roof. The west side is different too. The Cross Timbers Conservation Development District is a mostly rural part of town. Chimney Rock, Montalcino, Townlake and Pepper Creek Ranch sit there. Big lots mean long rooflines. Track color matches your trim, whatever the wall.

Flower Mound FAQ

Questions we get from Flower Mound homeowners.

Do you drill into the brick on a Flower Mound home?

No. Town code calls for 100 percent masonry on the walls of most homes here. Aurascape's color-matched aluminum track goes on the eave, so the brick stays as it is.

Can I light my house for the Mound Showdown?

Yes. Individually addressable LEDs take any color you pick in the free app. Run Marauder red or Jaguar blue on game night, then switch back to warm white.

Can I be lit before the December 5 parade at Gerault Park?

Install takes about a week and a half after materials are ordered. We quote on the same visit. Work back from December 5 and call early.

What about hail like June 2023?

Golf-ball to baseball-size hail hit parts of Flower Mound on June 11, 2023. No lighting system is hail-proof. Bosso backs the product with a 5-year warranty, and we can walk you through the terms.

Will my HOA or the Town need to sign off?

Many Flower Mound neighborhoods have HOAs, including Bridlewood and Wellington. We could not confirm a town-wide rule on permanent lighting. Check your covenants and ask the Town's Building Inspections Department about permits before install.

Which Flower Mound ZIP codes do you cover?

Aurascape is based in Denton. Homes in 75022 and 75028 are in our area. The Flower Mound sections of Canyon Falls use ZIP 76226 and Argyle ISD, and those homes are in our area too.
