Out on the acreage, homes get bigger still. Listings in Heath Estates, Fox Hollow Estates and Canyon Oaks show roughly 6,900 to 9,600 square feet. Those lots run 5 to 9 acres. That is a lot of eave. We measure the whole roofline on the same visit and quote it.

Argyle weather is hard on anything clipped up
Denton's July highs average 95°F and the hot season runs June 3 to September 17. DFW averages 20 days a year at 100°F or hotter. The record is 71 days, set in 2011.
Wind is the bigger issue for lights. Denton's windy season starts October 26, right when most people drag out the ladder. March is the windiest month at 11.7 mph on average.
Large hail hit Argyle on March 14, 2024. Viewers across Denton County reported golf ball to baseball-size stones. Storms that May brought gusts up to 80 mph and cut power to over 50,000 residents. Local life
Friday nights, tree lighting, and no fireworks
Argyle High School is home of the Eagles, and the colors are red, white and black. The school has won state titles in football, baseball, girls basketball and marching band. Enrollment was 1,644 in 2024-25. Our LEDs are individually addressable, so you pick the color. Run red for a playoff week, then go back to white.
Not every Argyle address wears the same colors. Liberty Christian on US 377 is the Warriors in navy and gray. Lantana kids go to Denton ISD and John H. Guyer High School, where the Wildcats wear black, silver and blue.
The calendar gives you reasons to light up. The Argyle Community Trunk or Treat is Saturday, October 17, 2026, run by Argyle PD with local churches. Keep Argyle Beautiful holds the tree lighting on the first Saturday of December, 4 to 6 pm. It has run since 2015. Santa arrives by fire truck. Fireworks are illegal inside town limits, with fines up to $2,000. A red, white and blue roofline on July 4 is not.

Whose rules apply depends on your address
An Argyle address covers more than the town. Lantana is unincorporated and permits through the Lantana Districts. Harvest sits in Argyle and Northlake. Canyon Falls spans Northlake, Flower Mound and Argyle. Furst Ranch is inside Flower Mound. Enclave at Hickory Hill is in Denton's extraterritorial jurisdiction. Inside town, zoning runs from 5-acre lots down to 7,000 square feet.
The Town of Argyle requires permits for new construction, additions, alterations and repairs. Contractors must register with the town each year. We could not confirm whether roofline lighting needs a permit, so call the permit desk at 940-464-7273 before you book. The zoning chapter we read puts lighting standards in the Office Retail district, not the residential ones. Council still watches glare. In January 2023 it approved sports court lights on Rolling Acres Drive with a two-hour timer and a 16,500-lumen cap.
HOAs add a second layer. Canyon Falls sends exterior changes through its Architectural Control Committee. Lantana homes are generally under the Lantana Community Association plus neighborhood guidelines. Texas law lets HOAs set reasonable timing rules for holiday decorations. Ask your HOA before you book.

My address says Argyle. Am I inside town limits?
Not always. Lantana is unincorporated, Furst Ranch is in Flower Mound, and Enclave at Hickory Hill is in Denton's ETJ. Harvest and Canyon Falls are split with Northlake. The Town of Argyle permit desk at 940-464-7273 can tell you where your lot falls.
Do I need a Town of Argyle permit for permanent roofline lighting?
