The homes

Newer brick fronts, mostly built since 2010

Aubrey is a new-build town. Of 3,176 homes inside city limits, about 59% went up in 2010 or later. Nearly 30% are 2020 or newer.

Sandbrock Ranch plans run 1,984 to 4,354 square feet on lots 45 to 70 feet wide. Highland says brick, stone, garage doors and shutters vary home to home. Some plans offer six or seven exterior styles. Silverado runs from 1,294 square feet on 40 to 75 foot lots.

That mix shapes the install. We match the aluminum track to your fascia and trim, not the brick. Sandbrock plans come with two or three car garages, so the control box has a home. The free app runs the rest.

The weather

Hot summers, windy springs, clear Octobers

The nearest weather record is Denton, 12 miles south. July highs average 95 degrees. The hot season runs June 3 to September 17, and July brings about 25 muggy days.

Wind runs strongest from late October to early June. March averages 11.7 miles per hour. May is the wettest month at 4.3 inches. January lows average 35 degrees.

Permanent track means nothing to re-hang after a windy March. Nothing to pull down before the heat either. October has the clearest skies, clear to partly cloudy 71% of the time. That makes it a good month to book.

Local life

Chaparral red, Bengal red and a Main Street tree lighting

Aubrey High School is home of the Chaparrals. Their colors are red, navy and white, and they play 4A ball. Aubrey ISD's 2022 bond paid for a 122,000 square foot indoor athletic facility.

Part of Aubrey sits in Denton ISD. Braswell High's Bengals wear red and black, and Sandbrock Ranch is in Denton ISD. One town runs two sets of game-night colors.

The Peanut Festival fills Main Street every October. Haunted Harvest runs October 31, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Christmas Tree Lighting is December 5 at Veterans Memorial Park. Winn Ridge's Trace Drive made the Post-Signal's 2024 list of holiday display streets.

The rules

City limits, the ETJ and your HOA

Not every Aubrey address is inside the city. Aubrey keeps a one-mile ETJ around its limits. City ordinances, including zoning, do not apply there.

A 2022 Denton Record-Chronicle report put Silverado, Sandbrock Ranch and Aspen Meadows just outside city limits. Aubrey's police department serves the whole ETJ. Check your plat to see where you sit.

If your neighborhood has an HOA, read its architectural rules before you book. Permit questions go to Aubrey Development Services at 940-440-9343.

Aubrey FAQ

Questions we get from Aubrey homeowners.

Is my Aubrey address inside the city or the ETJ?

Aubrey keeps a one-mile ETJ, and city zoning does not apply there. A 2022 Denton Record-Chronicle report put Silverado, Sandbrock Ranch and Aspen Meadows outside city limits. Check your plat or call Development Services at 940-440-9343.

Can I run Chaparral colors one night and Bengal colors the next?

Yes. Individually addressable LEDs change color from the free app, so you can run Chaparral red, navy and white or Bengal red and black. Aubrey ISD and Denton ISD both serve parts of town.

Will my HOA allow permanent roofline lights?

Read your HOA's architectural rules first, since they differ by community. The track is color-matched aluminum, so by day it reads as trim. Aurascape quotes on the same visit, so you can take the details to your HOA.

I want to be lit for the December 5 tree lighting. When do I book?

Install runs about a week and a half after materials are ordered, and quotes come on the same visit. Last year's tree lighting brought pyrotechnics, horse-drawn carriages and a West Elementary choir. Count back from December 5 and book early.

Does a brick and stone front change the install?

In one way. We match the aluminum track to your fascia and trim, not the masonry. Highland says brick, stone and shutters vary home to home in Sandbrock Ranch, so each house gets its own color match.

How close is Aurascape to Aubrey?

Aurascape is based in Denton, about 12 miles south of Aubrey. It is owned by Weston Howard and runs a three-person crew. We are a certified Bosso dealer, and the product carries a 5-year Bosso warranty.
